Gate Design
Shown in the photo's is the typical construction of a medium sized pair of manual gates from fabrication through to fitting. The gates are constructed from 40mm x 40mm (1 1/4" x 1 1/4") outer frames, 20mm (3/4") vertical bars and 25mm x 10mm (1" x 3/8") sandwich horizontal bars.
For larger gate sizes, these are altered accordingly. As the photos show, every care is taken to provide the customer with the finest quality work to last generations.
After fabrication is complete and inspected, the gates are galvanised (a form of zinc plating) to prevent corrosion, these are then fettled ready for painting.
Three coats of enamel paint, specially formulated to adhere to galvanised steel is applied by high pressure spray. The pictures show the customer has chosen a antique copper patina finish (a distressed appearance of beautiful aging copper).
After carefully checking post alignment and hinge geometry the gates are fitted and handed over to the customer.
